In the exhibition will present portraits of well-known citizens who met Warhol in his visits to Italy, which Graziella Lonardi Bontempi, Ernesto Esposito, Peppino di Bernardo et al recall that because of his friendship with Lucio Amelio was responsible for the birth of his well-known headline work “Fate Presto”, inspired on the front page of the Mattino (National Italian newspaper) of November 23 1980, and consists of three large canvases, on each of which is reproduced, with different shades of gray, the first page of the “Morning,” two days after the earthquake in Irpinia.

Another inspiration was the Neapolitan Warhol for the series of works, Vesuvius, in which the image of the volcano, is replicated in different colors.

The exhibition “showcases”, which will be curated by Achille Bonito Oliva in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Naples, will also host a large group of works on paper drawn from the series Golden Shoes, designed by Warhol early of his career in New York in the mid-50s, when he was a graphic designer and window dresser for stores of Madison Avenue, and the submission of silkscreens of Campbell’s soup and Camoufflage “boxes-sculpture” and t-shirts designed by Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
