Extra virgin olive oil was born in an old oil mill located in the hills of Sorrento Italy, a land traditionally devoted to the cultivation of olives. Since 1849 the factory we are visiting is dedicated to the production of the best Italian olive oil. For more than a century, history has changed the technology, but what remains unchanged is passion they devote to their oil and the quality of their products. Among the most significant productions of the company they have many varieties and have won many awards for their culinary properties and health. After discovering the many types and flavours of olive oil Your Private Driver Guide will take you to a An Italian family’s generations-old tradition of making homemade pasta, sausage, wine, homemade sauce and their shared all secrets with you.
This part of the tour gives you the chance to live like an italian… among italians! A family of ancient traditions live in this beautiful country house on a little hill above Sorrento Coast with breathtaking views of the Gulf. Firstly you will meet Franco, head of the household. When Franco retired, he began to work in the garden, as his father “nonno Giovanni” had done and taught. An English speaking family member will do the tour whilst Franco will show round the garden with pride and passion. There’s a very ancient tradition involved in all the plantations (lemons, strawberries, aubergines, tomatoes, zucchini, potatoes, etc), in the winemaking and in the olive oil making. You can also pick and taste a genuine organic Italian strawberry from the family’s garden. Your day will continue in the typical country-house, There you will meet the rest of the family and you will enjoy a fresh aperitif on a terrace in front of Vesuvio. Then you’ll see and help (if you wish) mamma and her daughter prepare lunch. This is a good opportunity to learn all the secrets of authentic Italian cooking.
Then you will have lunch with all the family, Enjoy the pasta, good wine and all the fresh garden ingredients, Taste the “salame” made by papà Franco and the typical “limoncello” made by mamma. Your day in the country house with this typical italian family will end in the afternoon. After this experience, you’ll be a bit of an italian for the rest of your life! Your culinary tour will take you to the Masterclass of gelato Your private driver will drive you down through some local villages till you arrive at the gelato class
A fully fledged school for tasting and demonstration of handmade gelato. What the Gelateria wants to offer his guests is a demonstration on the preparation of artisan gelato. The lesson takes about 45 minutes during in which the Gelateria will explain what ingredients and techniques to use to have a good handmade gelato. At the end of the demonstration, participants will be invited to taste the freshly made gelato and will also be able to choose between the various flavors of daily production in the exhibition window.
