Program of day tour Vesuvius, Herculaneum ruins and Wine Tasting
We are best to get started early to the make the most of the day – at a pre-arranged time your Rosato driver will collect you from your accommodation on the Sorrento coast. Once you have settled into our comfortable Mercedes people carrier, we will set off in the direction of Mount Vesuvius. Sit back, relax and take in the stunning beauty as we head onto the motor way.
Walking Tour Vesuvius
After around 40 minutes we will reach the confines of the Vesuvius National Park – from here you can reach the famous crater by foot. Along the way you will be able to see numerous species of flora & fauna – and if you are lucky you may even spot the “tinnunculus” Falcon, or the Vesuvius Fox. Once at the top the view can only be described as breath-taking – The Gulf of Naples!
Once the walking tour is over your private driver will drop you off at the main entrance of Herculaneum where you will have around 2 hours to explore the ruins.
Following the given itineraries on the archaeological website you can wander among the ancient ruins of the antique roman city devastated from the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a more in depth experience our advice is to hire a local authorized guide – who will be able to give you fascinating facts about the ancient Romans & show you some of the hidden gems of the site.
Afterwards your driver will accompany you to a vineyard on the very slopes of Vesuvius, where you will get to do a small wine tasting and try some local produce.
Wine Tasting at the foot of the Vesuvius
Trying some of the most famous wine “Lacryma Christi” – or “tears of Christ” while you sample some local cheeses, delicious tomato bruschetta, and amazing hams & salamis. And of course, an amazing spaghetti with tomatoes grown on these very slopes.
Your day trip is drawing to an end but before being dropped back off at your accommodation – we will stop off along the way to get some last shots of the amazing panorama.
