Departure from your accommodation in Naples around 8h30, with one of our English speaking guide drivers. The first stop of our tour will take us to the hills of Sorrento, among ancient olive trees.
We will visit the oldest oil mill in Sorrento and the surrounding olive grove where, with a real venture back in time, we will learn of the family history that have been producing for generations and perfecting an extra virgin olive oil of excellent quality, combining tradition and innovation. The cultivation of the olive tree and the production of oil have a very ancient history in the Sorrentine peninsula and together with the Lemon trees characterize the landscape of the entire coast. The visit ends with a tasting of over 20 olive oils from classic extra virgin olive oils to Lemon, spices and aromatic herbs, It will be difficult to choose your favorite! We will leave the hills of Sorrento to head towards the centre of Sorrento, in the oldest part of the city made up of narrow streets where you can breathe an air of vacation and relaxation at any time of the year.
Among the many shops in the historic center of Sorrento, there is a place not to be missed: An ancient inlay workshop, where you can admire the dexterity and creativity of a 3rd generation true passionate craftsmanship, the art of cutting and assembling small pieces of wood, obtained from the woods of the area such as walnut, olive and lemon. Visiting an inlay workshop will allow you to discover the techniques used to produce the inlaid objects and to see the craftsman at work. You will be fascinated by these small works of art: pictures, tray and the famous table and the musical jewellery box that plays the famous song of "Torna a Surriento" Return to Sorrento. Towards the end of the morning, it's that perfect time of the day for a delicious aperitif like a true Sorrentino before we continue our fun filled day with a local cooking lesson just like mama use to make it!
The Neapolitan cuisine is undoubtedly one of the best in Italy and most appreciated in the world. Meals for us Sorrentines are one of the most important moment of the day, especially that of Sunday when the he family gathers round to enjoy a traditional feast together. Each place is linked to a particular dish from ones childhood, usually the one prepared by his grandmother for Sunday lunch: ragù, gnocchi or eggplant parmigiana to mention a few local favourites. With our cooking class you will learn how to prepare a perfect dish to serve to your friends and family once you return home. Above all, you will learn that at the base of Neapolitan cuisine there are two essential elements: love and the choice of top quality local sourced ingredients. Put on your apron and chef's hat: let your cooking experience begin! After the cooking class we will all eat the freshly prepared lunch together.
The last stage of our tour will be dedicated to visiting a limoncello factory where an expert will show you all the steps of the production of our yellow liquid gold. Now known all over the world, for being an excellent and delicious drink for digestion, served chilled at the end of a meal. Once you have tasted the real limoncello produced with DOP lemons, you will never do without it. Still wrapped in the scent of lemons, our driver will take you back to your accommodation in Naples.
